Cannabis find - man fined £200
Before the court on a summons for possessing a Class B controlled drug was Nigel Thomas Martin McGothigan, of 4 Broombeg, Ballycastle, who admitted the offence which took place on March 20 last.
The court was told that police carried out a search of a flat at Quay Road when defendant was present and a small plastic bag of cannabis was found.

Hide AdWhen approached, defendant admitted it was his and after caution, he again confirmed that the cannabis was his.
A solicitor for McGothigan, (25) said the amount in the bag was so small it could only make one joint and was for his client's personal use.
The solicitor said it was McGothigan's second time before the court for the same type of offence.
"He does not have a drugs problem now and realises that his liberty will be at stake if he continues with drugs use," the solicitor added.

Hide AdDistrict Judge, Mr. Richard Wilson, then asked McGothigan: "What are you doing about your drugs habit."
Defendant - I am going to cut it down.
Mr. Wilson - I'm not sure that's the right script, you mean you're going to cut out drugs.
McGothigan was fined 200 and a disposal order was made on the drugs.
