Caravan park attack was ‘isolated’ incident: manager

Causeway Coast Holiday Park General Manager Tom McNeill said: “Around 6am on the morning of Saturday April 17, it was discovered that one of our owners’ caravans had been damaged by fire and another one had been spray painted with graffiti. It was dealt with very swiftly. “The owners affected have been informed and we would like to reassure all of our other caravan owners that their holiday homes are fine. “This is an isolated incident on a very family friendly holiday park. We have had no other issues and this has come completely out of the blue. I am extremely disappointed and saddened that someone has decided to cause malicious damage to someone’s holiday home which had been well looked after and cared for. “All our staff have been working extremely hard over the past months over a particularly difficult period in preparation for the opening of the park. It is upsetting for both the staff and the holiday home owners that someone would decide to do this. This in no way reflects the ethos of Causeway Coast Holiday Park which is welcoming to all and is here to provide our owners and holiday makers with a safe retreat and a place to enjoy their holidays and make happy memories. “We have a very loyal group of owners, some of whom have been here for generations, we are really looking forward to seeing them all back soon and along with my dedicated team, we will do all we can to look after them when they return.” The attack has been condemned by SDLP Councillor Margaret Anne McKillop. Cllr McKillop said: “This is a shocking attack on homes at Causeway Coast Holiday Park. Graffiti has been daubed over a number of static caravans and one home was set alight during the attack. “This will be incredibly distressing for caravan owners in the area. We don’t need this kind of hatred in our community. I would appeal to anyone with information to come forward to the police.”
