Cookstown-born comic Jimmy Cricket awarded knighthood by the Pope
Cookstown-born comic Jimmy Cricket has been awarded a papal knighthood for his services to charity.
Jimmy - whose real name is James Joseph Mulgrew - tweeted about the honour awarded by Pope Francis and expressed his delight.
In 2013 Jimmy Cricket’s son was ordained a priest.
Fr Frankie Mulgrew, 35, was ordained at Salford Cathedral in Manchester at a mass attended by his father and other family members from Cookstown.
