Going green in Bushmills
Planning permission was given for the new warehouse which will be used to store full barrels of whiskey despite three letters of objection.
Planning officer Julie McMath said the letters said the scheme will impact on an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and said it was an elevated site and that the site was archaelogically sensitive.

She said the archaelogical aspect was mentioned to the Northern Ireland Environment Agency and they were happy to proceed.
Vice-Chairperson of Moyle Council, Cllr Robert McIlroy (DUP), asked if other warehouses at the distillery would be finished in green to help them blend in because he said on a sunny day the sun can shine off the warehouses.
He said he failed to understand why one was green and others weren’t.
Ms McMath said that was something he could raise with the distillery if he wished.
