Gregory Campbell warns against ‘Republican aggression’ in new Mid Ulster council
In a statement issued on the first day of the new authority which now covers Cookstown, Magherafelt and Dungannon, Gregory Campbell called for unionists to be vigilant.
“Politically, some nationalists have chosen to look back to unionist majority Councils and what they were supposed to have done some fifty or sixty years ago,” said the MP.

“The days of riding roughshod over the wishes of unionist minorities not only have to be over, must be seen to be over as well.”
He added: “Whether in areas like Londonderry, Fermanagh, Mid Ulster or Newry, already there are signs of old style Irish republican aggression on display. Vigilance as always must be the unionist watchword.”
