Ice warning for local motorists
The Met Office have issued a yellow warning for ice across the country from 3am to 11am on Thursday morning.
“Outbreaks of rain, with some sleet or snow on highest ground, will clear in the early hours of Thursday morning,” the warning read. “Temperatures will then fall sharply leading to icy stretches on untreated roads. Sleet and snow showers will return later on Thursday morning. Please be aware of the potential for difficult travel conditions.

As this system clears overnight, skies will clear from the northwest and temperatures are expected to fall below freezing. This brings a risk of ice formation on untreated surfaces. In additional, as the airmass turns colder on Thursday morning, showers feeding in from the northwest may fall as snow to low levels inland.”
