Kitten found in car engine...you fur real?
Rachael Wilson of Gracehill Road made the claw-some discovery last Monday after litter-ally driving four miles from home to Ballymoney Model Primary School.
Rachael explained: “When we arrived at school a noisy meowing started after I had stopped the engine. I lifted the bonnet lid and I could see a little blue eyed, fluffy ginger kitten in the middle of my car engine. A few parents stopped to help me to try and get the kitten out.

I regrettably had to drive my car to my mechanic, Adrian at Logan and Sons to help rescue the kitten. The kitten was ok when I stopped the car and began its meowing for help.”
Once at the Kirk Road garage Adrian and his colleague jacked up the car and removed the bottom cover of the engine.
Rachael continued: “The kitten kept moving around the engine when they tried to reach for her.
“After 30 minutes Adrian caught her in one hand and brought her out. She was very scared and hissing.”

“I thanked Adrian and his colleague for their help and took a photo of ‘Carfield’ with her rescuer. I put out a request to find out if anyone had lost a little kitten on facebook but haven’t heard anything back.
“I can only think that ‘Carfield’ climbed into my car when I was out and about on Sunday - St Patrick’s Parish Centre Carpark, Dunseverick Castle Carpark or Greengage Lane. OR she was abandoned near to my home address on Gracehill Road - Kilraughts side on Sunday night/Monday morning and she took refuge in my car.
“Thankfully ‘Carfield’s’ found a new home with my parents now and is now called Bonny - I guess that’s one of her nine lives gone.”
