An evidential sample gave a reading of 59mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
Cormac McKeown, defending, said his client had consumed alcohol while watching a cricket match. He said Hamilton then made the ‘foolish’ decision to drive home. The solicitor added that Hamilton had only driven a short distance before he was stopped.
He told the court his client has now sold the car and this would cause him some difficulties in his personal life.
Disqualifying Hamilton, District Judge Barney McElholm also fined him £200.
