Local heroes to adorn cycle path benches
Scheme Manager for Sustrans, Ross McGill, said: "We're really looking forward to seeing who or what residents want to select as their local champions and immortalise in steel.
"Be it historical figures, mythical characters or pillars of the local community, anything can be nominated for the portrait bench, which will provide a focal point on the new walking and cycling routes across the city."

"I would encourage everyone to vote for their local champion and I look forward to the eventual unveiling of the project."
Sustrans is adding Portrait Benches to new Connect2 routes across the UK. The benches offer cyclists and walkers a chance to rest as they make their way along the route, while reflecting on the local landscape.
Closing date for nominations is January 31, 2011, with the three winning nominations announced in February.
