New members set to take their seats on Lisburn Council

TWO new councillors will take their seats in Lisburn Council next month when MP Jeffrey Donaldson and MLA Edwin Poots stand down from their positions.

Mr Poots will be replaced by his personal assistant Paul Stewart, who will represent the Downshire ward and Mr Donaldson will hand over to Lagan Valley DUP Association Chairman Roy Young for the Lisburn South ward.

Speaking after his selection by his party Mr Stewart said: "I am humbled and proud to be replacing Edwin on the Council in June and I would like to firstly pay tribute to Edwin's public service on the Council and indeed his father's service before him.
