NI Water fined for pollution offence
Northern Ireland Water Limited (NIW) has pleaded guilty and was fined £10,000 at Armagh Magistrates Court for making a polluting discharge from the Tandragee Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW).
On May 24, 2012, a Water Quality Inspector, carried out investigations following reports of dead fish in the Cusher River.
At the time of the investigation the Inspector noted a discharge from one of the pipes which was accompanied by a smell of chlorine. An analysis of a sample of the discharge showed the discharge to be polluting in nature.
