Nearly 70,000 packets of garlic bread slices worth £93,000 have been pulled from Tesco shelves after an investigation found some were underweight.

Trading standards officers in Scotland found 39 packets of the supermarket’s own-brand product had net weights below the declared amount during two visits to stores in Aberdeenshire.

Of the 290g packs tested they found that 39 were under the stated weight, with one weighing less than 230g.
