Rallying call ahead of major protest over farming crisis
Ulster Farmers Union president Ian Marshall is calling on the entire agri-food industry to attend a major demonstration over the farming crisis which will be held at Stormont on Friday (Sept 4).
The UFU say want to send a very clear message to the European Commission, ahead of an emergency meeting of the Agriculture Council, that the entire economy, and not only farmers, need it to accept the seriousness of the position facing all parts of the local farming and food industry.
The demonstration will be held at Stormont at 1pm on Friday 4 September.
It will attract farmers, food processors and others concerned about the future of the agri-food sector because of a lack of profitability along the food supply chain.
