Remembrance parades and services plannedfor Mid-Ulster
This has been a special year for the local branches of the Royal British Legion, who held events to mark the 100th anniversary of the commencement of the Great War.
One of the best attended was in Magherafelt where a ‘Day of Reflection’ incorporating a family fun day attracted several thousand.

Hide AdThe largest remembrance parade is expected to be held at The Cenotaph in Cookstown on Sunday morning. Ex-service personnel will be joined by representatives of the PSNI, RIR, Fire & Rescue, St John Ambulance as well as various youth organisations.
At Cookstown the parade starts at 10.30am making its way, led by Tamlaghtmore Silver Band, from Burn Road through the town to the Cenotaph where the Service of Remembrance will take place.
Following the Act of Remembrance and laying of wreaths, the parade will make its way back to the Burn Road via Chapel Street, Loy Street and James Street.
Over in Magherafelt, the local Branch of the Royal British Legion is holding remembrance parades in the town in the morning and at Tobermore in the evening.

Hide AdThose taking part in the Magherafelt parade will form-up at Rainey Street car park at 10.30am prior to moving off at 10.40am along Rainey Street, Broad Street and Union Road where a service will be held in Union Road Presbyterian Church.
As in previous years, the marchers will be accompanied by Aughagaskin Flute Band.
The remembrance service in Tobermore Baptist Church will take place following a parade of the village at 6.15pm.
Elsewhere, Castledawson Branch of the Royal British Legion will hold a wreath laying ceremony at the village Cenotaph, before parading to the local Presbyterian Church for a service.
Members of Upperlands RBL will hold a parade in Maghera and service in St Lurach’s Parish Church on Sunday afternoon.
