Slideshow: Pupils’ trip marks 70 years since liberation of Auschwitz
The film, which will be shown in the Dobbs Room, Carrick Town Hall this evening (Wednesday) also marks the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the notorious concentration camp.
It follows a recent four-day trip to Poland and Auschwitz by eight history students from Carrick’s post-primary schools.

Hide AdThe theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2015 is ‘Keeping the Memory Alive’, recognising everyone’s fundamental human right to freedom of speech. A spokesperson for the local authority said: “While the right to speak up may seem an uncomplicated concept, the untold stories of the past have shown us that voices have been taken away, and are ignored or still silenced to this day.
“Holocaust Memorial Day reminds us to share the lessons of the past and the present, using our voices to create a safer and better future.”
