Spooktacular scenes from Hallowe’en
Despite the onset of rain early on in the parade, the celestial bodies got their act together and it was a fun, mostly dry night for those taking part in the procession, as well as for the thousands of spectators and visitors who made the journey into the city centre for this annual spectacle.
The Banks of the Foyle Hallowe’en Carnival and firework display is the largest Hallowe’en celebration anywhere in Europe, and last night did not disappoint, with a theme of ‘City of Bones’ featuring characters from the Great Siege of 1688-89, Captain Browning and his wife Jane, the Mountjoy ship which broke the boom ending the Siege and even ‘Walter’ the city’s skeletal mascot, in all his 25 feet glory... as well as fire-breathing dinosaurs and even an acrobat in a bottle...
