Anderson and Murray complete gruelling event in Lanzarote

Larne Athletic Club’s Michael Anderson and Helen Murray raced in the recent Lanzarote Ironman in a field of over 2,000 competitors. The race commenced with a 2.4-mile swim in the Atlantic Ocean just outside Puerto del Carmen, followed by a 112-mile cycle around the whole of the island, and concluded with a 26.2-mile run back in Puerto del Carmen.

The strong wind and soaring temperature made an already hilly and technical bike course all the more demanding.

Michael and Helen both successfully completed the Ironman within the 17-hour cut-off time.
