City win on the road
Striker Rory Patterson fired home the all important winning goal on 13 minutes, finishing neatly after Barry McNamee had set the centre-forward up.
City, who made six changes to their side which drew at Bohemians, had other chances in the first half to increase their lead but Patterson headed over and Sligo goalkeeper Richard Brush did well to keep out Tony McNamee’s low drive.

While at the other end Sean Maguire had two glorious chances to take the cup tie into extra-time, but his first header was saved by Ciaran Gallagher, then right at the death he somehow headed over from close range.
