Curry was too hot to handle for Celtic

The scoreline was harsh on the visitor’s as the home side’s lead was only 1-0 at the interval. The first half was all one way traffic but to Draperstowns credit they were well organised and defended very well in the first period. Gary Simpson’s side started the second half on the front foot, which Draperstown struggled with, and it only took two minutes of the second half for the lead to be doubled. Good work between Thompson and Falconer down the left saw a low cross by Falconer met by the impressive onrushing Thomas McBride to score his first goal for the club. Minutes later Falconer again flying down the left and his cross-cum-shot flew into the top corner. The goals continued to flow, this time it was the hard working Scanlon who got his reward when he finished well from a cross from Stephen Curry. Soon after a lovely waited through ball from Lynch put Stephen Curry through one-on-one and the right-winger tucked away to the bottom left hand corner. Young Riddles replaced Thompson and within seconds the 15-year-old nearly got on the score sheet but his effort was kept out. Stephen Curry completed his hat-trick and Scanlon got his second of the game to take the score to 7-0. Then five minutes from time Ricky Lee Dougherty got on the score sheet, he was a real live wire when introduced and took his tally for the season to 29 goals in 16 games. Newbuildings have now finished there league campaign until the New Year as Dungiven travel to Newbuildings on Saturday in the final league cup game, where a 26 goal swing in Dungiven’s favour is the only thing that can prevent Newbuildings meeting Oxford in the final.
