Decisive matches ahead

The weather won again on Saturday with the third wipe-out in the last four weeks, but hopefully the weather will relent over the next two Saturday’s when three decisive games will be played in the three divisions of the South Antrim League.

Tomorrow South Antrim travel to Clonduff YM in a game which surely they must win to remain with a real chance of winning Division 1.

Clonduff have a 100 per cent record and 39 points and having played the same matches - 13 - South are four points adrift. If Clonduff win they go seven points ahead and that would be difficult to catch.

A week later, on Saturday March 1, Premier Division leaders, Ballymacash YM entertain Warren YM and they have a four point advantage, though Warren have played a game less.

It is a vital game for both teams with Braniel YM six points behind ‘Cash the only real other challengers. Glaston and Sandy Row may still be looking at their chances but both are 16 points behind Ballymacash with four games less played and that is an uphill task.

Down in Division 2 Braniel YM II lead by two points from Clonduff YM II and have a game in hand.

Cregagh Wanderers are a point further back on the same games as Clonduff, so they really need to beat Braniel to keep the pot boiling over.
