It has been a good week for Holt Shield Captain, Darryl Flannagan, at Dunmurry Golf Club.

Firstly his Holt Shield charges earned an excellent draw away at Bangor on Thursday, then, clearly inspired by their performance, provided a performance of his own to capture the Max McCready Salver.

The 10 handicapper shot a stunning two over par 72, giving him a best of the day nett 62 and a two shot victory over Roy McGrath.

Darryl began solidly with three straight pars, before dropping a shot at the par 5, fourth hole.

A fifteen foot birdie putt at the fifth returned him to level par but two consecutive three putt bogeys at seven and eight saw him go two over the card.

He remained at two over through the ninth after another solid par, and he continued his steady play with pars at the next four holes.

A second birdie arrived at the short par 4, fourteenth, and a fine up and down from the green side bunker at fifteen maintained his one over score.
