Loreto students perform well at Diustrict finals
The Loreto Mini Girls and Mini Boys teams (Year 8 students) took first place, winning through to the Ulster Finals as the best team in a field of approximately 20 teams. The Junior Boys and Junior Girls teams (Year 10 students) also won through.
There were several extremely impressive individual performances by Loreto students on the day. Abigail McBroom won the Year 10 Girls’ race, while her younger sister, Ellie McBroom, took second place in the Year 8 Girls’ event.

Hide AdIn the Year 10 Boys’ race, Adam Kerr took third place, while Eoghan Gormley was placed fifth in the Year 8 Boys’ event. Sisters Aoife Carr and Niamh Carr also had a great day: Aoife (Year 11) took fourth place in the Intermediate Girls’ race, while Niamh (Year 9) was third in the Minor Girls’ race.
Mr Michael James, Principal of Loreto College, paid tribute to all the students who had represented the College with such great distinction at the Cross Country event.
Mr James also thanked teachers Mr Paul Cunning and Mrs Sheila McBroom who had worked hard with the students in training sessions and had supported them on the day, and wished the team well for the Ulster Finals.
