Success for Loreto at NEBSSA event
Aoife Carr (Year 11) had a great run winning the Senior girls race convincingly, while her sister Niamh made it a family double as she won the Year 9 race.
In something of a ‘sister act ‘ Ellie McBroom was second in the Year 8 race, while her sister Abigail took third place in the Year 10 race.

Hide AdThe event was well supported, with 21 schools from the North East taking part and over 600 runners competing. In the team races Loreto College was second in the Year 8 Girls’ race ,second in the Year 8 Boys’ race, third in the Year 10 Girls’ race and third in the Year 10 Boys’ race .
Meanwhile, Loreto student Abigail McBroom made her international debut, representing Ireland on Saturday 22nd March.
Abigail was the third Irish girl home, helping Ireland to a podium finish in bronze medal position.
Mr Michael James, Principal of Loreto College, paid tribute to all these talented cross-country runners who had represented Loreto with such distinction this season.

Hide AdMr James also paid tribute to teachers Mr Paul Cunning and Mrs Sheila McBroom, who had done so much to encourage and motivate the students, and had accompanied them to their many competitive fixtures throughout.
